Overcoming isolation: Links to online communities related to your condition
Having a chronic condition, especially one with visible symptoms that may make you feel self-conscious, can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness. You may find yourself avoiding social settings, or simply feeling a sense of being “different” when you’re around other people.
But the reality is that millions (yes, millions!) of Canadians live with the same skin condition you have.
You are not alone. In fact, you’re far from it.
There are a few ways to make you feel more connected to others with your condition. But there’s one thing you can do without leaving your comfort zone—or your couch, for that matter. Seek out online support groups for people just like you. Or, if social networks aren’t your thing, learn more about your skin condition to see that it’s nothing to isolate yourself over.
